🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1960, the Kirksville Air Force Base in Missouri recorded multiple sightings of unidentified flying objects. Reports indicate that between 8 and 12 objects appeared in formation, rapidly descended, and disappeared into the fog. Later, 6 to 8 objects were detected at high altitudes but were also lost in the weather. Military observers reported the objects behaving unusually, with abrupt altitude changes. Although possible explanations such as weather balloons or atmospheric conditions were considered, no clear answer was found. The official evaluation suggested that anomalies could be due to atmospheric reflections or unusual weather phenomena.
The Kirksville Air Force Base used advanced radar equipment to monitor the airspace, and these sightings caused some concern. The objects appeared and disappeared without a logical explanation, leading to the consideration that weather conditions might be influencing the data. However, there were no confirmations from other observers in the area, making a definitive evaluation difficult. Despite the investigations, the official report concluded there was no clear explanation for the sightings, and the case was filed as unresolved.
