🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1960, a U.S. Air Force pilot sighted an unusual object 39 miles south of San Angelo, Texas. The object was described as round, about the size of a quarter, with a fiery color and a long tail, resembling a shooting star. The sighting lasted only five seconds, and the object vanished instantly after tracing an arched path. Despite its strange appearance, investigators concluded it was likely a large meteor.
The report, filed under Project 10073, was reviewed by intelligence officers who ruled out aircraft or balloons. The pilot, deemed highly reliable, observed the phenomenon without optical aids at an altitude of 30,000 feet. Although no physical evidence was found, the intelligence officer suggested it could have been a satellite burning up upon entering the atmosphere. This case exemplifies how UFO sightings are often explained by natural phenomena, yet continue to spark curiosity.
