🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1960, a military observer reported a spherical object, moon-sized, rapidly ascending near Winchester Bay, Oregon. The phenomenon lasted between 3 and 4 minutes and displayed colors of the rainbow. Initially considered a balloon or aircraft, investigators concluded it was an atmospheric refraction of Jupiter. Such optical illusions are not uncommon, especially when the atmosphere distorts light from astronomical objects. The witness's description matched typical features of such phenomena, supporting the natural explanation.
Additionally, around the same time, other sightings were recorded in different locations, such as a luminous object in Edmonton, Canada, and a UFO performing rapid maneuvers in Massachusetts. Although these cases are not directly related to the Oregon event, they reflect the UFO activity of the era, often attributed to natural causes or atmospheric reflections.
