A bright object with a tail was observed in Greenham Common, England, on September 24, 1960. Witnesses reported a very luminous object moving rapidly from southwest to northeast, intermittently disappearing behind clouds. The sighting lasted about 15 seconds and no photos were taken. Although initially considered a meteor, the direction of movement did not exactly match other meteor reports in the area. Investigators concluded it could be an astronomical phenomenon, though other explanations were not ruled out.
