🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1960, several witnesses in New Mexico reported the observation of a bright green object. The object was approximately half the diameter of a dime held at arm's length. Initially it had no tail, but this developed to three times the diameter of the object. They described a straight and level flight, gradually disappearing. Another similar object was seen the next day in Las Cruces, with a description similar to a meteor. The witnesses included civilian and military security guards, adding credibility to the accounts.
The official U.S. Air Force report concluded that the object could not be identified. Investigator Captain Jack H. Patter noted that the perception of proximity might have been an optical illusion due to relative motion. Witnesses, interviewed at their exact locations, pointed in directions consistent with a location 15 degrees north of the North Star. Despite the witnesses' confidence in the object's closeness, the report suggested it was at a considerable distance, implying greater altitude and speed. This observation was recorded as part of a UFO investigation project, without reaching definitive conclusions.
