Summary

In October 1960, a witness in Tonawanda, New York, observed three round objects in the sky. The first was white, while the other two had red and white colors. They were moving at high speed, around 500 miles per hour, heading northeast. The witness saw them for about 30 seconds before they disappeared. At that time, a weather balloon had been launched and an aurora was reported in the area. Two F-86 aircraft from the Air National Guard were also in the region and reported seeing a meteor. However, there were no photographs or physical evidence.

Investigators considered several possibilities: the weather balloon, the aurora reflecting light, or perhaps a meteor. Although the witness mentioned a formation of two objects, later analysis suggested possible confusion between the aircraft and the observed objects. The 30-second observation duration did not align with typical balloon or aurora behavior, which raised doubts. Ultimately, the report concluded that the phenomenon could not be identified with certainty, but extraterrestrial activity was ruled out.
