🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An observer in Abilene, Texas, reported a luminous object moving rapidly across the sky in the early morning of October 14, 1960. The witness, using a telescope, saw the object near the Andromeda nebula, between Cygnus and Cassiopeia, and described it as fourth or fifth magnitude. Initially thinking it was an airplane, the observer concluded it couldn't be one due to its speed. The object moved faster than a typical aircraft but slower than a meteor. The report was incomplete, prompting investigators to request more details from the witness, who refused to provide them. No conclusive evaluation was possible.
The lack of detailed information in the testimony made any technical analysis difficult. The object showed no clear characteristics of a balloon, aircraft, or known astronomical phenomenon. The Air Force sent a questionnaire to obtain more data, but the witness did not cooperate. The case was archived as insufficient for a definitive evaluation, highlighting the importance of precise data in investigations of unidentified aerial phenomena.
