🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1960, a witness in Petropavlovsk, USSR, observed a large yellow light with vapor around it. Someone ran in shouting "Sputnik! Sputnik!" prompting a group to go outside to see it. The object moved east for several minutes before disappearing behind overcast clouds. Its size and speed could not be estimated, but it was considered a satellite.
The description matched characteristics of an artificial satellite, though it couldn't be matched to a known one in orbit at the time. The lack of precise data like observation elevation complicated the evaluation, but it was concluded to likely be a satellite.
