🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1960, an observer at Langley AFB, Virginia, reported a pencil-shaped object the size of a grapefruit, with a dull red-yellow color that emitted flickering light strong enough to cast their shadow. The object was seen for 3 to 5 seconds, following a straight descending path. A second witness in Hatteras Inlet, North Carolina, observed a similar object, orange in color, hovering about 100 feet above the station before disappearing rapidly to the northeast. Although a fireball meteor was considered, the lack of sound and conventional trails adds mystery to the sighting.
