🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1960, a report from Project 10073 recorded a UFO sighting near Ketchikan, Alaska. A boat observed two bright lights, one red and one white, moving at low altitude. The lights were about 100 yards apart and slowly moving toward the horizon. One of them ascended vertically before disappearing. Witnesses could not determine the shape of the objects, but described flickering lights and changes in brightness. The observation lasted several minutes and was recorded by two different vessels.
Despite the detailed description, investigators could not identify the phenomenon. Several explanations were considered, such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical events, but none were confirmed. The report concluded that the data was insufficient for a definitive evaluation. This case is an example of how UFO sightings often present ambiguous data, making classification difficult.
