🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1960, an aerial observer reported a bright yellow object appearing on the northwest horizon and moving east-southeast. The sighting lasted 44 minutes, with the object reaching a maximum altitude of 30 degrees above the horizon. It was described as resembling the Echo I satellite, suggesting it could have been a balloon or a space object. However, due to insufficient data, no definitive conclusion could be reached.
The report, classified as lacking enough information for evaluation, was submitted by a WV-2 aircraft north of Midway Island. Although several possibilities such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical bodies were considered, none fully explained the observation. This case remains an unsolved mystery in the files of unidentified aerial phenomena.
