Summary

In December 1960, a U.S. pilot in Japan reported an unidentified flying object displaying unusual behavior. The object appeared as a bright light that changed color in a defined cycle, shifting from intense white to cherry red, green, blue, and back to white. It was observed for three minutes and moved in a straight line, descending gradually. Although no photos were taken, the data suggest it might have been the reentry of a satellite, though the description of colors and the indefinite shape create some uncertainty.

The classified report under Project 10073 indicates the object was seen from a T-33 near Yokota Air Base in Japan. Although the possibility of a balloon or an astronomical phenomenon was considered, the data were insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. The report was distributed to several military and intelligence units, showing the army's interest in unexplained aerial phenomena at the time.
