🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1961, a civilian observer in El Portal, Florida, reported a bright object with blinking lights traveling quickly northwest over the northern part of Dade County. The sighting occurred at 01:45 on January 16 and lasted an unspecified amount of time. Although no photographs were taken, the witness described it as likely an aircraft due to the blinking lights. The report was processed under Project 10073, a U.S. Air Force initiative to investigate UFO sightings. The official conclusion was not clear, but the object was considered possibly an aircraft.
The case was classified as "insufficient data for evaluation," indicating no definitive resolution. However, the fact that it was officially recorded and shared with multiple military divisions suggests the incident was considered unusual enough to warrant attention. Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, such reports help understand how authorities handled sightings in the 1960s, before many of these declassified files became public.
