🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1961, a bright fireball caused a stir in California. Witnesses described it as an oval-shaped object, the size of a football, with an iridescent blue color and a long red fiery tail extending toward the horizon. It was seen from east to west, lasting only two seconds, but was enough to generate a wave of calls to authorities and media. Many believed it was a fire or even an unidentified object. Eventually, experts concluded it was a meteor, although not everyone was convinced.
The incident occurred in a busy area and generated rumors that the object had fallen in Hollywood or the ocean. Despite no damage or physical traces, fear persisted. The confusion was heightened by the coincidence with other recent unexplained phenomena. In the end, it was considered to be of natural origin, but the mystery remains alive in the testimonies and declassified documents.
