🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1961, a witness in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, observed four unidentified flying objects for two and a half hours. The main object appeared as large as a dime held at arm's length, while three smaller ones were pea-sized. All were round and shiny, with a silver or aluminum color. They moved in a V formation, with the main object hovering while the others approached and retreated in a repetitive pattern. The sighting occurred in an area used by the Air Force for high-altitude refueling operations, raising the possibility that they were aircraft. However, the witness denied that the maneuvers matched those of known planes.
The aerial formation displayed complex movements, with the main object suddenly darting north and disappearing. The other objects vanished shortly after. Attempts to contact additional witnesses, including an amateur astronomer, were unsuccessful. The Air Force considered possibilities such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, but no definitive conclusion was reached. The official report found no physical evidence or photographs, and the data was deemed insufficient for a conclusive evaluation.
