🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An object was sighted at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, on January 23, 1961. Witnesses described it as a shape similar to a half-dollar coin, blue or blue-white in color. The object was moving east-west or possibly southeast-northwest, and disappeared before touching the ground. It was estimated to be traveling faster than 450 mph and at an altitude above 30,000 feet. Although several explanations were considered, such as a balloon, meteor, or aircraft, no definitive conclusion was reached.
The report includes testimonies from multiple observers, suggesting the object was visible to the naked eye and quite large. The description of its trajectory and disappearance before impact generated speculation about its nature. Despite the amount of data collected, researchers concluded there was not enough information to evaluate the object's identity with certainty. The case remains unsolved, adding another chapter to investigations of unidentified aerial phenomena.
