🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1961, an observer in Terre Haute, Indiana, reported an object in the sky that did not match any known satellite. The sighting occurred at 23:42 local time and was recorded as part of the official Moonwatch program, which tracks objects in orbit. The witness described an object traveling in the SSW-NNE direction, with an angular velocity of 0.4 degrees per second. Although no photos were taken, the report indicated that the object did not match any known astronomical body at the time.
The official evaluation concluded that there was insufficient data to determine the nature of the object. Possibilities such as balloons, aircraft, or known celestial bodies were ruled out. The report was sent to the NSSCC (U.S. Satellite Control Center), but no definitive conclusion was reached. This case remains an unresolved mystery and is part of the historical records of unidentified sightings.
