In January 1961, three witnesses at Forbes AFB, Kansas and Kirksville, Missouri, reported the sighting of an unidentified flying object. They described a bright light that appeared 90 degrees above the horizon and faded around 10 degrees above it. One of the witnesses, a military tower operator, compared it to a large flare, moving eastward and disappearing northeast. Other reports mentioned shapeless forms, colors changing from green to brilliant white, and a faint tail.
