Summary

In February 1961, a crew of a WV-2 aircraft reported observing an unidentified object. The incident occurred in the Atlantic, at coordinates 43.17N 37.30W. The object was described as white, round or oval, and shone brighter than any visible star. Observers watched it for 30 minutes, and its movement coincided with the setting of Venus, leading to its classification as an astronomical event. However, the detailed description and duration of the observation created some uncertainty.

The crew used binoculars and a sextant to observe the object, adding credibility to the testimony. Although it was concluded to be Venus, the physical description and behavior of the object did not fully match expectations for a star. This case was officially recorded as an astronomical observation, but it remains a topic of interest in UFO files.
