🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1961, the radar at Waverly Air Force Station in Iowa picked up an unidentified object for 10 minutes. The radar detected the object 40 miles away with a southwest heading, and it disappeared 30 miles away in a northeast direction. Although there were no unusual weather conditions, the station had previously experienced issues with multiple registrations on its Mark X radar system. This led investigators to consider that the phenomenon might be due to equipment malfunction. No photos were taken, and the only witnesses were the radar personnel, who did not report any suspicious aerial activity or visible objects. The official conclusion pointed to a possible radar malfunction rather than a supernatural or extraterrestrial event.
