🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1961, a civilian in San Bernardino, California, observed a round, white object the size of a pinhead held at arm's length. The object remained visible for 20 minutes, with minimal movement and essentially fixed in position. The witness saw it while watching a commercial Boeing 707, about 60 degrees above the northern horizon. Despite the duration of the observation, there were no photos or radar involved.
The official evaluation concluded that the object was likely a common weather balloon. The responsible officer, Major John R. Finn of the USAF, agreed with this interpretation, supported by the observer's testimony. Although the case was logged under Project 10073, no elements suggested a more unusual explanation. The report, like many from that era, was classified as "insufficient for a definitive evaluation," but leaned toward a conventional explanation.
