🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1961, an officer of the Royal Australian Air Force and his son reported a bright object traveling at high speed in a low arc across the horizon. Initially bright white, the object turned a brighter green and finally burned out in a line of orange sparks. Although no photos were taken, the sighting was consistent with the characteristics of a large meteor. The observation was classified as "possibly astronomical," suggesting that authorities considered a natural explanation most plausible. However, the fact that multiple witnesses in the Brisbane area also reported the event adds an air of mystery to this case.
The report, under Project 10073, was contacted by the Australian base in Canberra and sent to the U.S. Space Tracking Center in Massachusetts. Although it could not be determined with certainty whether the phenomenon occurred above or below the clouds, the detailed description and coincidence with other sightings in the region led to a careful evaluation. Although no conclusive evidence of an extraterrestrial craft was found, the case remains an interesting example of how natural phenomena can be mistaken for unidentified objects.
