🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A Florida Highway Patrol officer spotted an object near the star Sirius in West Hollywood, Florida, on March 14, 1961. The object was moving rapidly from north to southeast and was observed for 10 minutes. Initially thought to possibly be a weather balloon, no official confirmation was received. The investigation concluded it was likely a balloon, though the original report never reached the FTD.
The case was classified as secret and reviewed for several years. In 1969, the classification was cancelled and partial disclosure authorized. Despite multiple investigations, no conclusive evidence of what the object was was found, leaving open the possibility it wasn't an ordinary balloon.
