🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1961, a young witness in Silver Grove, Kentucky, observed two unidentified aerial objects traveling south. The first was followed by another at a distance of 1.5 miles. Both changed color, shifting from bright white to orange red and then to a deep red before disappearing. The witness, who had previously reported other sightings, described the phenomenon with some excitement, though his testimony was deemed insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. The Air Force recorded the sighting as part of its investigations into unexplained aerial phenomena.
The report details that the 13-year-old witness saw the objects while outside with friends. Although no photos were taken and no optical instruments were used, the witness described the movement and color changes in some detail. Despite this, investigators concluded that the information was limited and did not rule out conventional explanations such as balloons or reflections. The case was filed without a definitive resolution, but remains an interesting example of how UFO sightings were documented in the 1960s.
