🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1961, a military crew observed a round, white object moving rapidly across the sky. The sighting occurred near the coordinates 04°14.5N 106°18.5E, in a Southeast Asian region. The object, described as the size of a second-magnitude star, appeared at 60 degrees with a bearing of 080 and disappeared at 15 degrees with a bearing of 020. It was heading north and was lost to view among clouds on the horizon. The observation lasted approximately 1.5 minutes.
Observers concluded that the object's speed was too high for an orbiting satellite but too slow for a meteor. Although the possibility of a balloon or aircraft was considered, there was not enough information to reach a definitive conclusion. The official report notes that no photos were taken and no optical aids were used, further limiting analysis. The mystery of the object remains unsolved.
