🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1961, a round silver object was observed for seven minutes over the Pacific near Oregon. The report, filed by an Air Force officer, describes an object moving at high speed in a southerly direction. Although a temperature inversion was noted in the area, the sighting could not be confirmed as a satellite, balloon, or aircraft with certainty. The object's appearance and straight trajectory led to the consideration that it might be the Echo I satellite, though other possibilities were not ruled out.
The observation was recorded by a pilot and navigator who attempted to use a sextant for more details, but the object was moving too fast. Despite the relatively long duration of the sighting, the data was insufficient for a definitive evaluation. The case was classified as a possible satellite observation, but remains unconfirmed. This type of report reflects the uncertainty surrounding UFO sightings in the 1960s.
