🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1961, an Air Force weather forecaster in Wichita Falls, Texas, observed a luminous object described as a blue-white star. The object had no tail or sound and was moving at a high altitude. The witness, experienced in sky observation, compared it to the Echo I satellite. Although confirmation with space tracking records was not possible, all characteristics pointed to a satellite. The report concluded it was likely Echo I, though other possibilities were not ruled out. The observer saw no aircraft or weather phenomena that could explain the sighting.
