Summary

In June 1961, a civilian in Winston Salem, North Carolina, observed three bright white lights arranged in a triangular formation. The witnesses, including three others, saw the objects moving at a speed faster than any normal jet aircraft. The sighting lasted between 5 and 6 minutes, with no sound emitted, and the objects disappeared into the horizon. Although military jets were known to be in the area at the time, investigators concluded there was no reason to believe the objects were anything other than those aircraft. However, the lack of noise and unusual speed left some room for doubt.

The exact location of the sighting was near Winston Salem Lake, and the observation was officially recorded by air authorities. Despite clear weather conditions and no reported anomalies, the report noted anomalous propagation detected on one radar, though not confirmed. Ultimately, it was concluded the objects were likely military aircraft on training missions, but the case left some questions unanswered.
