🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1961, a ship in the Pacific reported a bright star-like object. It was observed along a 120-degree course at high altitude and was considered possibly a satellite. The report noted that the object had no specified speed or duration, but matched the characteristics of ECHO I, a known satellite at the time. Despite the lack of precise data, it was concluded to be likely a satellite.
The exact location of the sighting was near Ocean Station Victor in the Pacific, and the object was tracked for several minutes. Although there were no photos or radar data, the observers' testimony and the position of ECHO I led to the case being classified as verified. This document, though brief, shows how military analysts examined aerial phenomena during a time of great interest in satellites and space exploration.
