🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1961, a bright object was observed for 10 seconds northwest of an aircraft heading northeast. The object displayed changes in brightness in four stages, which created confusion about its nature. Although initially considered a meteor, the changes in its luminosity did not match typical patterns. The flat trajectory and brief observation led to the conclusion that there was not enough information for a clear evaluation.
The report, classified under Project 10073, was reviewed by multiple military and intelligence agencies, including CINCPACAF and NORAD. Despite the widespread distribution of the report, no concrete threat was identified. The case was filed as "insufficient for evaluation," reflecting the ambiguity of the available data. These historical records offer a fascinating glimpse into the uncertainties surrounding unidentified flying object sightings over half a century ago.
