🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A United Airlines flight observed a bright burning object leaving a trail of fragments in the Pacific in 1961. The aircraft saw the object for about 10 to 15 minutes. It appeared in direction 300° and disappeared at 120°, suggesting rapid movement. Although initially considered a threat, investigators concluded it was likely a satellite or rocket breaking up. Several objects were noted to decay around that time, supporting the idea of a normal space event. However, the short duration of the sighting caused some confusion.
