🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1961, a UFO sighting was reported near Yokota, Japan, by an aerial observer. A bright, small white object was seen for seven minutes without making any sound or leaving a trail. The object maintained a straight course and disappeared into the distance. Although no photos were taken, the report notes that the object behaved similarly to those previously reported in the area.
The evaluation of the incident suggested the object could be the Echo I satellite, which was in orbit at the time. This was supported by the object's altitude and speed, characteristics consistent with a satellite. Although explanations such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were ruled out, the final conclusion was that the sighting was likely not an unexplained phenomenon, but a satellite in orbit.
