🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1961, a witness in Fairborn, Ohio, described an unidentified aerial object that appeared like an umbrella with a light underneath. The object was yellow or orange, as bright as a star, and moved in a straight line at low altitude, just a few meters above houses. The witness claimed the object didn’t pass directly over their home but did so over a neighbor’s, noting it moved slowly. The description of the object as "as big as a sun umbrella" and its unusual behavior generated interest among researchers at the time.
The Air Force concluded it could be a balloon, an aircraft, or an astronomical phenomenon, but no definitive explanation was found. The lack of photographs and the short observation time (5 minutes) complicated the evaluation. The testimony includes precise details about location and visual description, making it a curious case in the 1960s UFO files.
