In July 1961, a U.S. Army officer reported a luminous object in the sky over Ocean City, New Jersey. The object appeared suddenly at 45 degrees elevation in the west and disappeared in the east, maintaining a straight and constant course. It was described as a round light between peach and light green tones, the size of a coin at arm's length. The witness, a 41-year-old officer, estimated the speed at 2000 mph and the distance at 8000 feet. Although initially unsure of its identity, investigators concluded it was likely a high-altitude aircraft.
