🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1961, a 15-year-old in Ashland, Kentucky reported a UFO that appeared twice during the night. He first saw an oval, reddish object moving northeast, and an hour later observed it again, this time with a jet engine sound. The report suggests it could have been a slow meteor or satellite, but the witness didn't recall any known reentry at that time. The description of movement and appearance generated some confusion, as the young observer tried to calculate its speed and distance using basic methods, arriving at surprisingly high estimates. Despite the lack of photos or radar, the detailed testimony includes sketches and calculations showing his scientific interest.
The official Air Force report deemed it insufficient for a conclusive evaluation, but the testimony reflects the curiosity and rigor of a young observer trying to understand what he saw. The combination of color, trajectory, and sound makes it an interesting case for analyzing unidentified aerial phenomena from that era.
