🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1961, a technician from Western Electric in Fort Edward, New York, reported two sightings of a mysterious object. The first occurred on August 6 at 2:30 AM and the second on August 10 at 2:45 AM. Both objects were round, bright, and moved unpredictably. The first was white and the second a pale yellow. Although the witness described speeds exceeding those of a jet, investigators concluded they were likely weather balloons. This was due to the fact that balloons were regularly released in the area and the observed behavior matched theirs. Additionally, the technician's wife confirmed the second sighting, reinforcing the credibility of the report.
The atmosphere at the time was conducive to confusion, as weather balloons were common and their appearance at night could seem strange to an unaccustomed observer. Although the technician mentioned the object moved quickly and changed direction, this could be explained by wind currents at high altitudes. Ultimately, investigators concluded there was insufficient evidence to consider these sightings as unidentified phenomena and attributed them to weather balloons. However, the object's description and behavior remain interesting to UFO researchers.
