🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1961, a witness in Sandusky, Ohio, observed a luminous object ascending toward the west-southwest. The object, which glowed like Venus with red and white flashes, left a reddish trail and burned for 2 to 5 minutes at dusk. The report includes 35 mm photographs and a physical sample analyzed by the Air Force. Although the witness believed it to be an unusual phenomenon, chemical analyses revealed the sample consisted of furnace slag and polyethylene, common industrial materials. No evidence of an extraterrestrial spacecraft or threat to national security was found.
The evaluation concluded the object was not of extraterrestrial origin, but likely a meteorite or balloon. The film did not provide enough detail to identify the object with certainty, and chemical analyses ruled out any connection to an unknown technological threat. Despite the mysterious nature of the sighting, the results indicated it was a natural or common artificial phenomenon.
