🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1961, a witness in Hammond, Indiana, reported an oval-shaped object with colors ranging from blue, green, orange, and yellow. Seen for 3.5 hours through a 20x telescope, the object slowly moved toward the northeast. Although initially unusual, investigators concluded it was likely the star Capella. The observation was lengthy, and the witness appeared unfamiliar with their equipment, suggesting improper telescope use. The location and timing matched Capella's position in the sky, supporting the theory that it was a star observed from the ground.
