A witness in Valparaiso, Indiana, reported a strange aerial phenomenon in September 1961. While stargazing with a telescope, they heard a sound resembling an airplane. After scanning the sky without success, they spotted a bright red stationary object at 35° above the horizon. This object disappeared after three minutes of observation, only to reappear seconds later at a lower altitude, moving rapidly northwest before vanishing again. The witness, along with a friend, ruled it out as an airplane due to its unusual movement and speed.
The official evaluation did not reach a definitive conclusion, but the first object was considered possibly the heard aircraft. However, the second object remained unexplained. The witness insisted on the authenticity of the experience, requesting an investigation despite possible doubts. This case reflects the confusion and fascination surrounding sightings at the time, with testimonies challenging conventional explanations.
