🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1961, a radar at North Concord Air Force Station in Vermont picked up an unidentified object for 18 minutes. The radar recorded a target similar in size to a large aircraft at an altitude of 62,000 feet, suggesting a high-flying object. The object appeared 84 miles away and moved erratically, even hovering at times. Radar operators, including SSGT Chisick, immediately notified the surveillance officer, but no definitive identification was made.
The official assessment concluded that the object was likely a weather balloon, given its low speed, high altitude, and unstable path. Although no photos were taken and no further information was gathered, the data indicated the object did not display typical characteristics of an aircraft or astronomical phenomenon. This case is part of the Project 10073 records and was later classified as "unclassified".
