🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1961, a U.S. Air Force officer reported an unidentified object near the island of Guam. While flying in a KC-97, Captain Richard M. Butler observed a cylindrical, orange-colored object, about the size of a grapefruit, moving rapidly across the sky. The object showed no signs of being an aircraft or a balloon, and left no smoke, making it unusual. The observer, along with his co-pilot, concluded it was not a natural phenomenon.
The object's trajectory was completely straight with no maneuvers, which caught the pilot's attention. It disappeared to the east, and the initial report suggested it could be the reentry of a spacecraft. Despite not being identified with certainty, the officer's testimony was considered highly reliable. This case is an example of how UFO reports often generate multiple hypotheses, from natural explanations to unknown technologies.
