🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1961, an observer on a plane reported a long green-blue streak with white edges that vanished quickly. The sighting lasted only one second but was so bright it illuminated the cockpit. Although initially thought to be a meteorite, the report suggests it could have been an astronomical phenomenon. The object showed no signs of balloon, aircraft or human activity.
The report includes details of the plane, an RC-121D, and mentions that several officers considered the observation reliable. Favorable weather conditions were recorded, and no activity was detected in the area. Although not identified with certainty, the report suggests it could have been an exceptionally bright meteorite or even the re-entry of a space object.
