🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1961, a pilot reported seeing three aerial objects near Jensen, Utah. The objects appeared stationary at first but then moved southwest for about 1.5 minutes before disappearing. The investigation suggested it could have been a mirage caused by a temperature inversion, making distant mountain peaks appear as flying objects. The most likely explanation, according to the report, was that the pilot was seeing optical illusions of distant mountains.
The phenomenon is similar to other famous sightings, such as Kennett Arnold's in 1947, where objects also appeared to move in unusual ways. Although no photos were taken, investigators concluded there was no evidence of a spacecraft or supernatural activity. Instead, it was considered that the pilot was observing an optical illusion caused by specific atmospheric conditions.
