🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1961, an elliptical object was observed over Grand Cayman Island in the West Indies. Meteorological technicians reported a bright, oval-shaped object that appeared to have small lights moving clockwise around it. The object moved erratically, changed direction, and disappeared behind a cloud bank. Despite the witnesses being trained in upper-air balloon observations, the Air Force could not confirm the nature of the sighting. Stormy weather complicated the evaluation, and the case was ultimately deemed to lack sufficient data for a conclusion.
The Air Force requested additional information, but it could not be obtained due to the observers' remote location. The case was classified as "insufficient data for evaluation." Although a balloon or astronomical explanation was considered, no definitive conclusion was reached. This report highlights the ambiguity of many UFO sightings from the era, where technical and logistical limitations often prevented clear resolution.
