Summary

In November 1961, a military base in Arlington Heights, Illinois, recorded an unusual aerial phenomenon. Three objects were detected on radar moving at a speed of 4000 knots, an extraordinary figure for the time. Observers, including employees of Martin and military personnel, noted that the objects arrived with a 30-second interval each. The first and second units disappeared into ground clutter, while the third vanished 100,000 yards away. Despite the equipment being tested and found in perfect working order, the data was insufficient to determine the nature of the objects. The extreme speed and lack of information about the type of radar used complicated any analysis.

The official report concluded that there was insufficient data to evaluate the case, and no clear explanation was reached. The lack of photographs and the inability to determine altitude or object type added mystery to the event. This case, like many others, was filed without resolution, but remains an example of how unidentified objects can challenge even the most advanced technologies of their time.
