🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A U.S. Navy officer reported a round, white object observed for nine minutes in the Pacific Ocean in 1961. The observer used a sextant and binoculars to track the object moving in a straight line northeast. Although the case was classified as "Echo I," a category indicating an unexplained phenomenon, no photographs or radar data were obtained. The report was shared with multiple military agencies, including the CIA and NORAD, but no definitive conclusion was reached. The object disappeared into the horizon haze, leaving the observers without a clear explanation.
The exact location of the sighting was 28.34°N 163.42°W, a remote area of the Pacific Ocean. The three observers, considered highly reliable, agreed on the object's description and trajectory. Despite efforts to identify the phenomenon, the final report did not rule out the possibility of it being a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical event, but none of these options were confirmed. This case is part of the Project 10073 records, a U.S. Air Force initiative during the Cold War.
