🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1961, a man in Ontario, Canada, observed a large fireball traveling across the sky from east to west. The witness, who was ice skating near a pond, described the object as very large and bright, moving at low altitude and at a good speed. Despite the overcast sky, the object remained below the clouds, giving it an impressive appearance. The official report considered it a probable meteor, but the witness explicitly ruled out it being an aircraft or weather balloon.
Air force investigators did not detect the object on radar, which did not rule out a natural phenomenon. However, the witness's description and the lack of additional records created some uncertainty. The case was classified as a probable meteor, but other explanations were not dismissed. The full report was archived without further investigation.
