🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1961, a witness in Chicago spotted a luminous object that appeared to be a meteor. It was described as an orange to bright white sphere, about half the size of the moon. The object was moving northward, without a tail or sound, and vanished within 4 to 5 seconds. Despite its unusual appearance, investigators concluded it was likely an astronomical phenomenon, specifically a meteor. There were no photographs or physical traces, making a more precise evaluation difficult. The report, part of a military archive, shows how such events were documented at the time.
