A 1962 report describes the observation of a bright flying object over East German territory near the border zone. The object, seen from Warpke in West Germany, emitted intermittent red flashes and made no flight noise. It moved west to east and then turned south, without entering West German territory. Despite being reported by military sources, no photos were taken and no radar activity was recorded.

The analysis concluded that the information was insufficient for a definitive evaluation, though it suggested the object might have been an aircraft anti-collision light.
