🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1962, a U.S. Navy aircraft flying near Adak, Alaska, reported a UFO sighting. The incident occurred at 06:17, and observers described a bright, white, circular object moving at high speed. The object was visually tracked for eight minutes before disappearing over the horizon. Although other explanations like balloons or aircraft were considered, the report concluded it might be a satellite. Observers, including several qualified officers, found no conventional explanations for the phenomenon.
The official report, classified as "other satellite," noted that the object did not resemble a weather balloon or conventional aircraft. The lack of air traffic in the area and the object's irregular movement increased uncertainty. Despite no photos being taken, multiple witnesses corroborated the sighting, reinforcing its credibility. This case, like many from the era, was filed without a definitive resolution, but remains a fascinating example of how military authorities handled UFO reports in the 1960s.
